Dorkbot Seattle Kit Night
Learn a bit about soldering and constructing circuit boards, burn your fingers, and end up with a cool new toy to take home!
We have identified three kits for you to choose from, or you can bring your own.
Kits:
**** LUX SPECTRALIS ****
The Lux Spectralis is a deluxe RGB (red, green and blue) LED (light emitting diode) blinky that you can build. A small microcontroller (ATtiny13) is preprogrammed with many different fun display modes (pulse in/out, slowly changing between colors, etc) that you can select with the pushbutton. Price: $13.50 Full info: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9287
Batteries not included - you'll need to bring 3 x AAA.
**** SOLARSPEEDER ****
The SolarSpeeder was designed using ideas gathered from many years of Solaroller racing at the BEAM Robot games. You only need a soldering iron and basic hand tools to turn this high-quality coreless DC motor, lightweight body, and tweaked electronics to build your solar speed-demon. The SolarSpeeder can cover 3 meters (10 feet) in under 40 seconds in direct sunlight. Simple to construct and a great project for beginners! Price: $30 Full info: http://www.makershed.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MKSB004&CartID=1
No batteries required!
**** ATARI PUNK CONSOLE ****
The Atari Punk Console is a simple and fun sound generator. The original circuit was developed by Forrest M. Mims III. It was named the Atari Punk Console by Kaustic Machines, due to the similarity of the sounds it makes to an Atari 2600. Price: $25 Full info: http://www.makershed.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MKJR2
Batteries and enclosure not included. You will need to bring a 9V battery and a tin (standard altoids size)
**** OR BRING YOUR OWN ****
If you'd prefer to bring your own kit, there's no charge but please still register so we know how many people to expect.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Kit orders close on Monday, March 28th to give us time to order the kits and have them delivered. You can still register to bring your own kit after that, but it will be too late to order through us.
We have a pool of soldering irons for people to borrow, but if you have your own please do bring it - we'll probably be having people share irons.
