Absinthe & Old Myths
Absinthe and Old Myths
Banned in 1915, absinthe, the iconic beverage of fin de siècle bohemian artists, has had a storied and stormy history.
The "green fairy" was both adored and abhorred, inspiring artists and enraging moralists.
In 2007, absinthe once again became a legal product in the United States. After almost 100 years, this fabled favorite still maintains its mystique.
What is that lends such mystery and imagination to absinthe? Why was it banned? How is it made? How is it served?
For the answers to these questions and many more, please join us on Wednesday, March 23rd, at the Euopean Kitchen Center.
Hear from Scott Rosenbaum an expert in the history of cocktails Cheryl Lins founder of Delaware Phoenix, a NYS distillery that produces our very own local absinthe!
We'll enjoy absinthe cocktails made the way Baudeliare wanted them. We'll also enjoy other products made from NYS ingredients.
