Greg Johnson: City People
Greg Johnson has established himself as a luminary figure in the young Jazz community. He has garnered numerous accolades on the national and international levels including: winner of the Yamaha Young Artist Jazz Saxophone Competition, two-time finalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, Selectee for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency at the Kennedy Center and Ravinia Music Festival's Steans Institute. Greg has won seven student music awards from Downbeat Magazine. As a professional, Greg has appeared in concert and on mainstream recordings with Jazz greats Curtis Fuller, Billy Taylor, Dick Oatts, Jay Anderson, Alan Pasqua, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer and many more. Having lived in Los Angeles for the past five years, Greg will be moving to the Bay Area in July where he will serve as the new Director of Jazz Studies at the Marin School of the Arts. Greg has released three recordings "Invisible" "GJ3" and "City People" under his name and has contributed to dozens more
