Fix-It Shops: An Endangered Species directed by Dorothy Fadiman (USA, 1999, 6 min, Documentary) FIX-IT SHOPS: An Endangered Species takes an affectionate look behind the scenes at Menlo Park's Vacuum & Fix-it Shop, which repairs small appliances. In this intimate portrait, viewers meet the people whose dedication, patience, and skill contribute to their own community, as well as to the urban ecosystem by reducing unnecessary waste in landfills.
Imani directed by Caroline Kamya (Uganda, 2010, 78 min, Feature Film) In the course of just one day, we venture into the lives of three characters within the diverse landscape of contemporary Uganda. Imani provides a refreshing look at Uganda post Idi Amin, post LRA (Lords Resistance Army). A fresh new talent, director Caroline Kamya, gives us an intimate portrait of the lives of a child soldier, a maid, and a hip hop dancer living in Uganda today. Imani is co-presented by and produced with support from the Global Film Initiative. For more information, visit www.globalfilm.org
