Whatever, a world premiere play
Why do we close our eyes to bad things... even when they are right in front of us?

Whatever
By Robert Tenges
Directed by Adam Webster

Everything will be fine for sixteen year-old Chloe once this afternoon's abortion is checked off her list. Likewise, her boyfriend Declan has finally found the courage to go off his anger meds and keep his hyper-concerned mother at bay. Two suburban teenagers try to navigate love, anger, and the bewildering adults who orbit their world.

PRAISE FOR WHATEVER:
"Recommended...the proverbial calm right before the Category 4 storm ...one long 100-minute drop in barometric pressure." -- Alex Huntsberger, NEW CITY

"Recommended... Tenges isn't afraid to let his characters utter some pretty dreadful shit concerning empathy, sex, and love, but he also backs up that darkness with flashes of unexpected warmth. In Webster's staging, lights dim, then return for just a few seconds, creating effective micromoments of anticipation." Chloe Riley, CHICAGO READER

"...refuses to offer any easy resolutions, but portrays loneliness, the world, and what it does to the characters within the play with humor, pathos, and compassion." Around the Town Chicago

"...the proverbial calm right before the Category 4 storm..one long 100-minute drop in barometric pressure." New City

"...tense and urgent...Tenges exposes the layers deep within us, even those we think no one else can see truly wonderful staging...go and check it out." Chicago Stage Standard
