CHRIS HEDGES TRIBUTE LUNCHEON

Dear KPFA friend,
Perhaps you've heard Chris Hedges speaking recently on KPFA.
He's done so many times over the years, and he's spoken in public
to increasingly large gatherings in the Bay Area to benefit KPFA.
We retain the kind of ardent respect for him we hold for such other
public intellectuals as Howard Zinn, Alice Walker, Noam Chomsky,
Daniel Ellsberg, Eduardo Galeano, and Michelle Alexander. Because Chris has the courage, vision and voice of a truly great progressive, he is essential for many of us.

Chris will be in Berkeley on June 9th for an evening talk about his excellent new book, Wages of Rebellion; The Moral Imperative of Revolt. We would like to offer him tribute, and hope you might JOIN US FOR LUNCH with him to help us do so. You'll have the opportunity to express your own gratitude to him directly.

Zatar is an eclectic Mediterranean restaurant, family-owned, that uses only naturally-raised meats, organic milk and eggs for their house-made yogurt and pastries; and hand-selected, organic fruits, herbs and vegetables many harvested daily from their own organic garden. Voted best Mediterranean Restaurant for 2014 & 2015 by the Bay Area A List, they are located in the theater arts district of downtown Berkeley, one block from the UC Berkeley campus, at 1981 Shattuck Avenue.

Lunch includes appetizers, your choice of lamb, chicken or vegetarian main course, and dessert. Admission will include a copy of Wages of Rebellion (which Chris will sign if you wish) and a reserved priority seat at the evening event at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley (see http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1447124)

Two menu choices are needed for each guest--main plate and dessert

lunch plates: all plates include: hummus, cardamom basmati rice, green salad, jajeek and flat bread

green falafel--fritters of chick peas, fresh herbs and spices or
grilled leg of lamb--boneless leg of lamb marinated with middle eastern spices or
grilled chicken--grilled marinated chicken breast

desserts:

homemade cardamom ice cream with candied walnuts & medjool dates or
warm pistachio baklava with honey

Per place: $150.
