Voices From the Heart Concert
The 200 women of Voices (and maybe just a few chickens!) will take flight in song on Saturday, June 6 at 4:00 and 7:30 p.m.! "We will celebrate flight singing songs about angels, bluebirds, wildbirds, doves, the flight of trouble and the flight to heaven......from the ridiculous to the sublime!" says director, Joanne Connolly. "We will sing the outrageously jazzy and fun Louis Jordan song, 'Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens' to the gorgeously beautiful and sublime, 'Trouble Fly,' a lullaby sung to soothe the fears of New York City children in the wake of 9/11. And then we will end the concert with everyone's favorite flying song 'Volare!' We will ending flying and singing!"
Take flight with Voices, and the wonderful instrumental accompaniment of Randy Armstrong, Jonathan Booth, Volker Nahrmann, Marty Quinn, Agnes Charlesworth, Cynthia Chatis and Michael Pellecchia. A full compliment on guitar, bass, percussion, piano, flute and clarinet!
"Taking Flight" will soar on June 6 at 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. at South Church, 292 State Street in Portsmouth. Tickets are $12 ahead of time and $14 at the door.
