On Thursday, June 4th from noon-2pm, The Washington Stormwater Center will host an introductory overview of the drivers and context behind permeable pavement. This will include trends in stormwater pollutants, studies regarding threats to salmon, recent land cover change data analysis hot off the press, and practical guidance for application and partnerships. This webinar is ideal for planners, municipalities, roads divisions, public works, and contractors/engineers who are curious about permeable pavement or who are still on the fence about where the technology might be used or to dispel myths about its application.

Curtis Hinman, Herrera: Background on LID,  permeable pavements and historical perspective

Jessica Knickerbocker, City of Tacoma: Overview of permeable pavement types and applications, and how she has organized this community of practice. Includes O&M.

Kenneth Pierce, Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife: Overview of high resolution Land Cover Change data to provide context for impervious cover increases, fragmentation, canopy loss and implications for stormwater pollution

Dawn Anderson,Pierce County: Overview of on-the-ground experience with permeable pavements in Spanaway Park from a County perspective

Jen McIntyre, Washington State University: Overview of pre-spawn mortality in Coho salmon to highlight toxics in stormwater, while promoting the use of LID and GI tools, including permeable pavements, to address the ramifications of urbanization and stormwater pollution
