Silents Are Golden - A Celebration of Silent Cinema
Great Family Entertainment - Fri. March 11, 7 pm This is a full evening one-man show, an entertaining and educational lecture lavishly illustrated with a dazzling array of clips from 100 silent film comedies and dramas! It is a celebration of the art of physical actingwhat Marcel Marceau called the "silent language of the soul"seen through the lens of silent cinema.
Silents are Golden stops here in Port Townsend for one night only, Friday March 11 at 7 pm while on national tour.
Rob's intention is to shed new light on the acting style of the silent era, while giving modern audiences a fresh and entertaining look at what made the silent stars shine so brightly. "I love presenting this program," says Mermin. "I have taken this show to several countries, and it is like bringing adults to the circus for the first time in decades, and watching a childlike wonder and delight return to their faces."

Rob Mermin is a classically trained pantomime actor, teacher, and director. He studied with mime masters Marcel Marceau and Etienne Decroux before embarking on a forty year career in circus, theater, TV and film. Silents Are Golden was originally commissioned by Focus on Film, and premiered at The Green Mountain Film Festival.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for kids under 10 years, are available at in person at The Food Coop, or online at brownpapertickets.com. The Chameleon Theater is located at 800 West Park Avenue, in the Port Townsend Business Park (near the Department of Motor Vehicles, signs will direct you in.)
