Raina Rose in Concert with Gary Furlow and the Loafers
We've been itching to get the delightful Raina back in the living room since she was last here in 2006. She made that a challenge by moving her touring base to Austin, Texas and staying on the road enough to make Portland visits rare. But this time we're presenting her at the Alberta Street Pub, with a little more elbow room and a full bar. Here's praise from those who know best and don't give it lightly:
If a bottle of champagne could sing, it would sound a lot like Raina Rose: positively effervescent, sparkling with youthful exuberance -- she's a joy." - Tracy Grammer
You jumped on every song like a cat, broke my heart, made me laugh and I knew that I could brag about you to anyone and feel completely justified..." - Jonathan Byrd
Gary Furlow could be that nice guy down the block who plays guitar on his front porch, if that guy grew up in New Orleans, worked on an offshore oil rig as a teenager, sings like single malt scotch and writes songs that make you say "Wow, why didn't I think of that?" He's backed up by a trio that includes standup bassist Kerry Canfield, part of the legendary Northwest band Wheatfield.
Tickets for this show will be $10 each through http://www.brownpapertickets.com, or $12 at the door.
