The Whistleblower
Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz is back in another explosive role as Kathryn Bolkovac, a real-life Nebraska police officer who travelled to Bosnia in 1999 as a peacekeeper and stumbled upon a brutal underworld of sex trafficking. Hired by a private firm to provide policing and stability to the post-war nation, Bolkovac was shocked to find many of her fellow officers actively engaged in sex slavery of young girls, and that United Nations officials were not only aware of the crimes being committed, but actively involved in trying to cover them up. Adapted into a taut political thriller by first-time feature director Larysa Kondracki, the shocking crimes are blood-boiling and galvanizing. Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci, David Strathairn and Danish actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas, star of Susanne Bier's films Open Hearts and Brothers, round out the all-star international cast.
