Event
Bohemia Latina, Love and Latin Music
A benefit concert for Villa Victoria Center for the Arts featuring the "Golden Age" of Latin music.
This concert will celebrate Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, established in 1986 by the late Jorge Hernández, and raise much needed funds to support ongoing community programs. This year's Jorge Hernández Leadership Awards, given to outstanding community members whose contributions are honored in 4 categories: Founding Award, Civic Award, Corporate Award and an Arts Award, will be presented during this special night.
Joining us directly from Puerto Rico, singer René Serrano has performed extensively in the US and in Puerto Rico as a soloist and he has collaborated with outstanding Bolero, Salsa and Jíbaro (traditional Puerto Rican) acts since 1990. Joined by his stellar ensemble Alma de Barrio (Soul of my Neighborhood), Serrano will offer a varied repertoire of classic, immortal songs from the Caribbean songbook and the era known to many as the "Golden Age" of Latin music. Celebrating the older generations' "bohemian" music, our concert offers an opportunity for Latin music lovers of all ages to "travel through time" to a more innocent and romantic era where Bolero held sway, leading the way to some of the most popular songs in Latin music history.
