Amy Thiessen & Friends with Guest Randi Boulten
Amy Thiessen is a Calgary Singer-Songwriter whose calling card is her powerful, versatile pop voice, which defies easy comparison to other artists but that at times recalls many: the dreaminess of Dido, the jazzy sophistication of Joni Mitchell, and the raw fragility of Basia Bulat, to name but a few.
Her arrangements straddle the divide between indie folk and pop. And her song-writing, sparklingly original and free of clichés, is reminiscent of the mature, sophisticated pop song-craft of artists such as Jann Arden only with decidedly rootsier production.
Randi Boulten is a talented Alberta musician and a powerhouse singer. With a vast and eclectic taste in music, Randi prefers not to be boxed into one genre. Like so many creative spirits, she writes when inspiration hits. But one thing is for sure: Randi's vocals create whatever sound she desires, whether that be reggae or rock. Even social media is noticing her talent thanks to getting a nudge on Twitter from fellow Canadian, Jann Arden, who tweeted to her fans: "Follow this kid...pretty great singer".
