Michener called Tales Of The South Pacific. 2 romantic stories set against a war in the islands of the South Pacific in the 1940's. Not only does the theme of war come up to play, but something else rears it's ugly head for the world to see: racial prejudice. Rodgers and Hammerstein were a daring team to take on such controversial themes with their shows, and South Pacific is no exception.
