THE HOLDING CELL is the story of one teenage girl's free-fall into the harrowing world of prescription drug abuse and addiction. Based on trued stories about real teenagers in Sarasota, Florida, THE HOLDING CELL begins as Skylar Thompson is dragged kicking and screaming into the county jail. As Skylar spends the night locked in a holding cell, she relives her dangerous romance with a teenage drug dealer, desperately trying to unravel the tangled web of her darkest days.


Easy Silence (2014) - Directed by Stephen Anthony Bailey (San Francisco Premiere) (0:28:04)

Set in the backwoods of the American South, Easy Silence is the tale of Jade Sway (Ashley Reign,) a young woman who suddenly finds herself a single mother after the father of her infant son is killed in action.  As her past addictions and demons threaten the future of both Jade and her baby, she must decide whether she can overcome the person she was in order to become the mother her child deserves.  



REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium - San Francisco 2015

June 11-14, 2015, Alcohol Justice and Writers In Treatment are presenting The 2nd Annual REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium - San Francisco Bay Area Edition.

The four-day festival will present 18 select feature-length and short, fictional and factual alcohol and drug addiction themed films in 14 sessions that highlight highlight alcohol and drug misuse and addiction as well as the hope and opportunity for recovery.

There will be expert panel discussions following most of the screenings which will take place primarily at the New People Cinema on Post Street in San Francisco (SF). There will also be 3 special sessions at the California Film Institute's Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael (SR). In addition, there will be a related free event - a book launch/reading/signing at Book Passage in the SF Ferry Building.
