The Gravenites Laflamme Band is one of the preeminent blues rock bands performing in the world today. Together as a group, Gravenites Laflamme Band represents the convergence of many roots in the heritage of popular music from over the past 50-years. The bandâs legacy is cemented in the enduring popularity of its members careers and their iconic status. Guitarist/vocalist Nick Gravenites, the late legendary guitarist Mike Bloomfield and organist, Barry Goldman formed Electric Flag, the seminal Chicago blues band in 1966. Nickâs song writing talents and Bloomfieldâs incendiary lead guitar playing were indispensable contributions in the successful rise of careers ranging from Janis Joplin to Bob Dylan. Nick also played with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Paul Butterfield. Virtuoso violinist David Laflamme and his former group, Itâs a Beautiful Day, struck gold when he co-wrote the mesmerizing White Bird, one of the most recognizable songs from the late 1960's and a staple on FM radio to this day. He has played in various lineups with Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Company and Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks. Over the years, Nick and David performed together on impromptu occasions. Following Davidâs return to northern California from Hollywood a few years back, he and Nick decided to permanently capture some of the magic experienced in their earlier collaborations with the present lineup. The rhythm section is comprised of drummer Roy Blumenfeld (cofounder along with Al Kooper of the influential New York-based Blues Project and later Sea Train) and bassist John Beckwith, a fixture on the northern California music scene for several decades performing with popular bands including Animal Mind, Harvey Mandel, Al Kooper and the Sonoma County Blues Society.
