The Improvisation For The Comedy Stage Workshop, is presented by Kim Thomassen and Gust Alexander: The Stagebenders. In this workshop Kim and Gust will take the ages old theatrical form of improvisation, that has been used for centuries as an acting exercise and developmental tool, and teach students how to adapt it to the comedy stage.
Students will go from learning the basic rules and structures of ensemble improvisation where listening, synergy, creativity and the essentials of teamwork combine into a performance recital.
The Stagebenders bring the learned knowledge of Del Close, Viola Spolin, The Second City, The Groundlings and over 15 years of performing professionally at comedy clubs worldwide to a workshop for people with little or no performance experience.
The class meets weekly for six weeks and will include a recital performance, individual
instruction and a video of the recital.
