MADE IN DAGENHAM
Monday, March 21 Reception: 6pm / Film: 7pm Members $9 Public $13 In 1968, Dagenham, England was the location of the largest Ford Motor Company factory in Europe. 168 women worked sewing car seatcovers, earning a fraction of the income of their male counterparts. In the lively and entertaining Made in Dagenham, soft-spoken Rita O'Grady (Sally Hawkins, Happy Go Lucky) is elected to attend what is expected to be an uneventful meeting between the union representative and Ford execs, and soon finds herself the unlikely leader and spokeswoman for a historic strike demanding equal pay. Full of humor, Made in Dagenham is the inspiring true story of a brave grassroots movement that continues to be extraordinarily relevant today. UK, 2010, 113 min., color, 35mm Director: Nigel Cole Writer: William Ivory Cast: Sally Hawkins, Miranda Richardson, Bob Hoskins Monday, March 21 Reception: 6pm / Film: 7pm Based on a true story that happened in 1968 in Dagenham, England about women workers in a Ford Motor plant who demanded the same pay as their male counterparts.
