BILLY JOEL
Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30pm Members $9 / Public $13 Incl. Reception Guest Speaker: Archivist BILL SHELLEY
Join us in celebrating Long Island's very own Piano Man, Billy Joel, as we show an amazing assortment of performances from concerts, television, and studio rehearsals from all across the world. Billy Joel started out in the 1960s with his first band The Hassles. The group landed on the charts with a few regional hits, and then broke up. After a few struggling years, Billy exploded onto the national charts and became a voice for his generation. His songwriting skills and showmanship proved him to be a sensation with audiences young and old from the 1970s through today as he has earned multiple Grammy Awards and wrote literally dozens of classic songs. From romantic ballad songs Just The Way You Are to great rockers like Only The Good Die Young, Billy Joel has created a brilliant body of work that is beloved by both his fellow Long Islanders and music lovers around the world. This evening will celebrate the artistry of one of Long Island's most gifted musicians with stunning rare performances including Movin' Out (Anthony's Song), My Life, Captain Jack, Piano Man, New York State Of Mind, The Entertainer, Honesty, The Stranger, She's Always A Woman To Me, You May Be Right, Big Shot, Allen Town, River of Dreams, and more!
