Monday,July 20th, 2015, Stanley Concert Hall. 7:30 pm "Classically Cello" The Estes Park Music Festival's "Sounds of Summer" opening concert featuring cellist Julie Albers and the Colorado Music Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni. An evening of sublime works by Mozart, Bach, and Haydn. The program opens with Mozart's Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, one of the most recognizable works in opera. Estimable cellist and Colorado native Julie Albers follows as the featured soloist in Haydn's lively, charming Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major. The evening's second half highlights Bach's use of the cello in his third Brandenburg Concerto, and finishes with a return to Mozart for his Symphony No. 31, "Paris."
Monday,July 27,2015, Stanley Concert Hall. 7:30 pm "Sounds of the Mediterranean" The Estes Park Music Festival's "Sounds of Summer" second concert of our three concert season featuring Croatian guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic and the Colorado Music Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni. The evening begins in Spain with works by Benet Casablancas and Joaquin Rodrigo, including the latter's exquisite Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra featuring Croatian guitar virtuoso, Ana Vidovic. The second half of the evening will transport you to Italy, with Vidovic returning to the stage for Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto in D Major. Your travels for the evening conclude with Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, "Italian," inspired by the composer's visits to Rome.
Monday, August 3, 2015, Stanley Concert Hall, 7:30 pm "Nature's Tableaux" The Estes Park Music Festival's "Sounds of Summer" concert finale featuring concertmaster Calin Lupanu and the Colorado Music Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni. Images of nature in music take center stage in masterpieces from four countries. Featuring Colorado Music Festival Concertmaster, Calin Lupanu, as soloist in Vaughan Williams' transcendent work, The Lark Ascending, the program opens with a suite of music from French composer Jean-Phillipe Rameau's opera Les Boréades (The Descendents of Boreas). Also on the program is American composer Charles Ives' Pulitzer Prize-winning Symphony No. 3 and Haydn's Symphony No. 73, "The Hunt."
NOTE: Children under the age of 18 and students (ID required) are admitted free of charge. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
