Tofu-Making with Minh Tsai, Tofu-Master & Co-Founder of Hodo Soy
Wednesday, March 30, 2011 6-8 PM
"Tofu should taste good. That's the most important thing people should know. It should be rich, creamy, and remind you of soybeans." Minh Tsai, Hodo Soy Tofu Master and Co-Founder.
Join us for a fun and informative hands-on tofu making class at Hodo Soy Beanery's production facility in Oakland. In part 1 of this 2-part series on tofu, we will learn about the art and science of creating fresh, delicious tofu from organic soybeans and calcium sulfate, a naturally occurring mineral. Tofu Master Minh Tsai and his crew will provide samples of other Hodo Soy products, and will also demonstrate how to make yuba, the creamy, soft tofu skin with endless culinary uses. You will be amazed at how easy it is to make your own delicious tofu at home. In addition to the fresh tofu you made during the class, you will also receive 2 lbs of soy beans and calcium sulfate to make more tofu at home.
Note: To make your own block of tofu in class, you will need to have your own tofu mold, which can be purchased at a discount price of $16 when you purchase tickets for the class. Not quite ready to make the commitment? You can still come to the class and watch Minh Tsai demonstrate how to make tofu by purchasing only the ticket to this event. We will provide information on how to build and/or purchase a tofu mold in class.
