Each spring and fall, millions of birds travel the Pacific Flyway, the westernmost North American bird-migration route, crossing a hybrid environment of wetlands, farmland, and refuges. Robert Wilson, author of Seeking Refuge, examines the development and management of these refugessome of which are sites of recent contentious debates over water usedemonstrating the need to foster landscapes where both wildlife and people can thrive.
