Virtual Environments and Advanced Building Design
AIA-members have a rare opportunity to experience a detailed introduction to the future of advanced building design; a tour of UCSD's Immersive Visualization Laboratory (IVL), among the world's most advanced facilities of its type.
Housed within the Qualcomm Institute on-campus, the IVL experience will include demos including the StarCAVE, the TourCAVE and the VROOM display as well as various kinds of models as well as the CAVE-CAD software, crafted to enable the design of architectural models within 3D displays. The vivid and lifelike displays are simply breathtaking and offer a clear look at the future of design.
The session will be guided by members of the IVL team including Dr. Eduardo Macagno, Prof. of Biological Sciences at UCSD as well as his colleague, Dr. Jurgen Schulze, Assistant Research Scientist, Qualcomm Institute and Assistant Adjunct Prof., Department of Computer Science. This is a not-to-be-missed experience.
