Peck's Book/Plate Featuring Etgar Keret, author of The Seven Good Years
Book/Plate is a literary/culinary partnership series with Greenlight Books and Peck's Homemade pairing up new books with complementary cuisine for an incomparable dinner with the author.
In June, Book/Plate hosts internationally acclaimed Israeli author Etgar Keret, whose novels and story collections include The Nimrod Flipout and The Bus Driver Who Wanted To Be God, and who has been described as "a genius" (New York Times), "astonishing" (Los Angeles Times), and "brilliant" (Salman Rushdie). Keret's newest work, The Seven Good Years (Riverhead June 16th), is his first nonfiction book: a memoir that is as charming, hilarious, and moving as his fiction. The book's short vignettes take place in his native Israel from the birth of his son and the death of his father, and his account of these seven good years is marked by Keret's empathetic curiosity, vivid presence, perfectly-pitched humor and emotional depth; these are stories to be devoured.
Peck's evokes the book's setting with a contemporary Mediterranean Israeli menu (completely vegetarian, as is Keret. Keret will talk informally about his work and chat with diners as he signs his new book (included in ticket price). Join us in the back patio at Peck's under the Brooklyn afternoon sun to celebrate the good years with one of our greatest contemporary writers.
