Vision Quest Music Piano Concert Featuring Peter Kater, Lisa Downing
Multi-Platinum Selling pianist-composer Peter Kater, has received 6 Grammy nominations in the last 7 years with his most recent nomination being for "In A Dream" with guitarist Dominic Miller (Sting). He has scored over 100 television programs and films including 11 On-Broadway and Off-Broadway plays. Peter is also a proud recipient of the prestigious Environmental Leadership Award from the United Nations.
It all began in 1983 when Peter released his first solo piano album, "Spirit," on his own Source Records, becoming one of only a small handful of instrumental artists spear-heading an entirely new genre of music which we've now come to know as New Age Music.
In 1990 Peter literally introduced Native American music to the masses with his groundbreaking collaboration with R. Carlos Nakai called "Natives,", followed by the Award Winning, "Migration," and Peter's soundtrack to the 13 hour Discovery Channel mini-series, "How The West Was Lost."
Peter's early contemporary instrumental recordings; his visionary soundtracks for television and film; and his collaborations with Native American and Tibetan artists helped create the foundation for the existence of an entirely new genre of music and some very successful and resourceful new record labels. Millions of sales units later the New Age and Native American Music markets have outsold and performed most other niche genres.
In 1997, Peter saw a need for music more appropriate to Healing Arts and Healing therapies and released his "Essence," and "Compassion" CD's as the first two records of his new Healing Series. In addition, he's added 3 new albums to this series, his "Ambrosia," "Walk In Beauty," and "Cloud Hands." Peter's music for the Healing Arts has become a staple for many practitioners of many Healing modalities and Spa's around the world. Over the years, Peter has recorded and performed nationally and internationally with some of the worlds most talented and accomplished musicians, actors, directors, and authors.
Lisa Downing is a Colorado Native, and has been actively composing and performing solo piano in the Denver area since 1982.
Lisa possesses an absolute passion for writing and performing her own unique style of original solo piano music. Lisa's most recent recording "A Delicate Balance," is an inspired collection of solo piano impressionism, and an intimate expression of the personal moments in her life. Lisa is wowing the critics, and completely re-defining the genre, with this technically impressive and soul-touching masterpiece. "A Delicate Balance" has currently held # 4 position on Radio Airplay Charts Worldwide, for two months.
Lisa's Holiday CD, "Christmas for Two," offers traditional holiday music with some very original solo piano arrangements. Although the melodies are familiar and recognizable to her audience, Lisa infuses each tune with her own exceptional personality and style. Kathy Parsons of MainlyPiano.com says: "...it's excellent from the first note to the last..."
Lisa's debut album, released in 1991, is entitled "Think On These Things." As with Lisa's other recordings, this CD is filled with power and delicacy...sometimes melodic reflective and contemplative, while other moments her music feels awash in powerful emotions.
Lisa's recordings are featured on the internet radio stations "Whisperings," "Sky.FM solo piano radio," "Pandora," "Calm Radio," "New Age Piano Radio," and Broadcast Radio Worldwide.
Ms. Downing also owns Vision Quest Entertainment, originally her own record label and now also a talent agency in Colorado since 1982. Vision Quest represents over 1,200 musicians and event services in the Denver/Boulder area.
