Local Artists for Local Kids
THIS EVENT IS 21+
On March 16th, 2011 Wingspan Arts will host an evening of local bands at the Chashama space at 217 East 42nd Street to benefit Wingspan's Free Summer Theatre Conservatory. The evening will include local artists coming together in an interactive night of music, film, spoken word, photography and art, celebrating 10 years of Wingspan Arts. The evening will also feature an open bar of beer and wine. Doors open at 7PM and will run until 11PM. Tickets are $20 and available on www.brownpapertickets.com Wingspan Arts is a 501(c)3 founded in 2001 in response to the lack of arts instruction in public schools. We provide a direct experience in the arts to more than 3,500 children in New York and New Jersey. During the summer our Conservatory gives 70 talented young people, ages 11 to 17, focused attention from teaching artists who specialize in theater. Our goal is to develop our students' abilities to work in ensembles, incorporate direction and use their bodies, voices and minds expressively. And as the only tuition-free comprehensive theater training-program in the city during the summer, we are able to provide arts education to students who otherwise would not have access to training. It is our wholehearted belief that our students' monetary resources should never limit their dreams and we need help making that happen.
