What Ever Werx Cabaret
Three of the bay area's best solo storytellers/comedians/musicians combine their super powers to create an unstoppable evening!
Quinn Deveaux will share his modern soul songs, sung in his sweet tenor over a spare guitar or carried by his band's bright tones, evoke old images aplentyfrom those gutbucket barrooms where rock-n-roll was born, to the pine-walled shacks, nearby, where its gospel-forebears rent their souls. But this artist's singular sound, making old tones new, is Quinn's alone. His acclaimed Blue Beat Review has been thrilling San Francisco's lovers of rollicking early R&B, and a good time, for years. And now, with two LPs of his own fresh tunes set to drop this fall, the Bay Area's best-kept secret is stepping out. Get on board: he'll take you there, wherever you've got to go.
Matt Lieb: Move over Shuckey Duckey, there is a new catchphase-based urban racial humorist in town. With catchphrases like "say what?", "women be trippin'" and "they don't think it be like it is, but it do", Matt Lieb has taken the San Francisco Bay Area comedy scene by storm. He has performed with the likes of Brent Weinbach, Moshe Kasher, and W. Kamau Bell. This year will mark Matt Lieb's 5th year performing at SF Sketchfest.
Ady Abbot's work as a solo performer began in 2011 in a class with David Ford at The Marsh. Her first show, recently re-named "Sara Jane Tried to Shoot the President," was performed at The Marsh (SF & Berkeley), Solo Sundays, The Vent, SF Fringe, and the LA Women's Theater Festival. "NamaSegway" is the second part of her second show, an exploration of self via various modes of travel. Good times.
