Opening Night Premiere Event - The Coach Buehler Story
Join us March 31st, 2011 for the Opening Night Premiere Event of the 11th Annual Phoenix Film Festival.
The night kicks-off at 6:00pm with a Cocktail Party and Silent Auction. in the Phoenix Film Festival Party Paviilon. Then at 7:30pm, in the Cine Capri Theatre, the 2011 Visionary Award will be presented to The Arizona Republic and Republic Media.
This will be followed by the World Premiere of "Starting at the Finish Line: The Coach Buehler Story" with producer, Grant Hill of the Phoenix Suns, director, Amy Unell and the subject of the film, Coach Buehler.
Film synopsis: Al Buehler has touched and enriched the lives of thousands of athletes including Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Carl Lewis, as well as Duke icons Grant Hill, Shane Battier, and Coach K. And the lives of thousands more who have never owned a pair of track shoes.For 55 years, Buehler has inspired athletes and met enormous challenges, breaking ground in race relations, women's athletics, and international sport. Now, he faces his latest challenge: an inoperable benign brain tumor.
