Petar Ralchev is one of the brightest stars on the contemporary Bulgarian music scene. World renown for his virtuosic and soulful renditions of traditional folk music, Ralchev has performed with notable Bulgarian musical luminaries such as Ivo Papasov, and is one of the most sought-after performers in Europe today. Ralchev appears with several multi-ethnic European bands such as The Other Europeans, No Border Orchestra, Accordionale, Danube Ship Orchestra, & Arabesque, as well as many Bulgarian projects such as the Zig Zag Trio and Bulgari. The present Petar Ralchev Quartet, features the youngest generation of Bulgarian folk virtuosi who have migrated to the "New World." These musicians are steeped in both traditional Bulgarian village music and elite music academy education, the result is music, which is intricate and mesmerizing: deeply rooted in folk traditions, yet also stretching beyond them.
