Colonial and Modern Mexico
With a focus on LACMA's newly acquired Casta painting, explore the shifting trends of art and food from colonial through modern Mexico before heading to Surfas in Culver City to prepare a contemporary Mexican meal.
Please note that though this class meets at LACMA is it not LACMA organized.
ABOUT ARTBITES: Maite Gomez-Rejon has a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Grande Diplome from the French Culinary Institute in New York City. Since 1995 Maite has worked in the education departments of such renowned museums as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Getty Villa and has worked as a private chef and caterer. In 2007, Maite founded ArtBites, art and culinary history combined with hands-on cooking instruction, which she teaches at museums across the country. Maite has been a guest on the Today Show, featured in Food & Wine magazine and interviewed on NPR's Splendid Table. Her blog, Cooking Art History, appears in The Huffington Post.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds will be issued only if cancellation is made at least one week prior to the event. Cancellations made within one week of the event will not be refunded but will receive credit towards a future "Tasting Art" class.
