THE STORY OF MONO LAKE -- Alex Beattie
In 1872 Mark Twain called Mono Lake "The Loneliest Tenant Of The Loneliest Spot On Earth". However..... Mono Lake has disclaimed this description to become an important National Monument.
Mono Lake has been the focus of landmark legal decisions affecting environmental law and is now an environmental treasure. This course will reveal how this all happened and bring to life how people and organizations saved Mono Lake and are maintaining it as an environmental resource.
All of us who are proactive and interested in supporting our precious natural resources will want to attend this course and learn about Mono Lake and how it evolved from the days Mark Twain wrote about it to become a National Monument.
Instructor Alex Beattie is a retired environmental engineer and college professor. He has previously taught well received courses for OLLI and LLCC and is a knowledgeable professional on the subject of Mono Lake and of the Eastern Sierras.
Registering for this course by buying a ticket will admit you to both sessions of this course.
