THE KEY TO EVOLUTION: HOW WE BECAME HUMAN -- David Jurji
Where did we come from? How did we get here?
This course is designed to answer the many questions about evolution beginning with how humans became unique in the animal world and why we are the ones who developed the way we did. Discover why our behavior is not pre-wired like some species but is the result of our capacity for social learning and creativity.
The desire for culture produced a being variable and unpredictable in thought and behavior, leading to the development of Homo Sapiens.Cultural evolution quickly surpassed the slow pace of biological evolution. Expand your knowledge as to how this happened.
Current research in anthropology will be presented giving participants an in depth idea of what it means to be human.
Instructor David Jurji has a PhD in Anthropology. Educated at NYU, Columbia, and University of Washington, he taught for 40 years in colleges ranging from community to graduate schools. Since retirement Dr. Jurji continues to study and keep current with developments in biological and cultural anthropology as it pertains to the evolution of human thinking and development of consciousness.
