Susan Freinkel: Plastic, Plastic Everywhere
A century into our love affair with plastic, we're starting to realize it's not such a healthy relationship: Plastics draw on dwindling fossil fuels, leach harmful chemicals, clog landfills, and destroy marine life. Chronicling our history with plastic through eight household items, journalist Susan Freinkel, author of Plastic, assesses the real impact of plastic on our health, environment, and economy, and says we need to start making some hard choices toward a new and sustainable relationship with the stuff. Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life, with University Book Store. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola. Series supported by The Boeing Company Charitable Trust and the RealNetworks Foundation.
