The German Table
The second installment in an ongoing series...
Life's most memorable meals take place around big tables, with endless platters of food and a steady stream of delicious wines. Join us as Rosemont welcomes our good friend Thomas Haehn of Von Schleinitz, which produces some of the Mosel Valley's -- and therefore the world's -- most exciting wines.
Thomas is a gentle, intelligent, charming guide to what remain the most fascinating wines on the planet: riesling and pinot noir from the steep slate slopes of the Mosel Valley. We will drink along the full spectrum of these mineral-rich rieslings, from fun and fruity to rich and elegant. The pinot noirs -- red, rosé and blanc de noir -- are true revelations of spice, depth, and precision. Of course, guests will have the opportunity to buy wines at discounted prices -- which is super important since these wines age so well!
Rosemont chef Brad Messier will present myriad dishes to accompany the wines, in casual, hearty, rustic German mode. Lots of house-made sausages, seasonal vegetables and much, much more. We'll serve it all family-style, amidst the lovely ambience of Think Tank in downtown Portland. Come on in, have a seat with friends and make some new ones too. Just keep passing those bottles and platters around!
