VA State Beekeepers' Association VSBA Spring 2015 Meeting, June 12 & 13, 2015
This year's Spring meeting is being hosted by the Beekeepers of the Northern Shenandoah and will be held at Shenandoah University in Winchester.
The following presentations will be offered:
Dr Vaughn Bryant of Texas A & M will discuss honey sources and standards.
Dr Dennis vanEnglesdorp from the University of Maryland will present the latest findings from the Bee Informed Partnership regarding factors that influence colony health.
Cybil Preston from the Maryland Dept of Agriculture Disease Detection will explain how Mack, her AFB-detection dog, helps beekeepers identify colonies with even the slightest AFB infection. Mack is expected to attend.
Judge Dan O"Hanlon of West Virginia will share how he was able to pass a state-side bee immunity law and his vision of local queen rearing to save the world.
Elizabeth LeGall of Meadows Edge Farm in North Carolina will present the results of her SARE grant, "Are Beeswax Cappings Contaminated with Pesticides?"
On Friday, June 12, Walk In Registration will open at noon with the meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m. Walk In Registration will re-open on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. and the meeting will resume at 8:45 a.m. Presentations and vendors go until 5:00 each day.
