10th Anniversary - Long Beach Reads One Book with Larry Mantle and David Isay
The Long Beach Public Library Foundation Proudly Presents "Remarkable Long Beach Stories" with Larry Mantle and David Isay.
This year's book, Listening is an Act of Love edited by David Isay, showcases the extraordinary stories of everyday American people. Come hear these extraordinary Long Beach stories! Join in the discussion with David Isay, editor of this year's book, with journalist and interviewer Larry Mantle, host of KPCC's "Air Talk," and Press-Telegram's Rich Archbold. Hear the incredible stories of locals Phansy Peang--Cambodian holocaust survivor-- Gene Lentzner --legendary philanthropist--and Capt. Manny Aschemeyer, whose tales of the sea will thrill and amaze you! Learn the art of the interview and the relationships between those trying to find a story and those trying to tell a story.
Long Beach Polytechnic High School Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Andy Osman, will perform music selected to reflect the themes of this year's Book Week: personal storytelling and the art of listening.
