Opening the Hand of Thought Writing As Practice in Not Knowing
Join us each month for writing as a practice of inquiry, giving way to radical acceptance, birthing compassion.
By unpacking, with attention, what we think we know, we discover what it is to not know. Freed to invent, reframe, find shards of light in what was formerly inchoate and incoherent, we uncover the source of our own aliveness, creativity and freedom.
Barbara Joshin O'Hara Sensei, MA, LSCW, is a co-founder of the Village Zendo, a language lecturer at NYU and a psychotherapist in private practice. She is interested in understanding the systematic self-rejection that makes us inattentive to our own experience, causing us to live, in the words of her fellow-countryman, James Joyce, several feet removed from our own bodies.
