HYPNAGOGIA!
hypnagogia: n. The brief transition between wakefulness and sleep wherein conscious thought is intermingled with random, sometimes surreal dream imagery, sounds, weird insights and unusual sensations. Also: hypnagogic hallucination, and pre-dream condition.
Veteran Seattle comedian Josh Knisely has drawn on this borderland state to create a new show utilizing material inspired by or written entirely within a half-dream state. HYPNAGOGIA! combines performance art with sketch comedy to create a world where crickets pine for car alarms, monster movie robots attempt to hold down day jobs and apparitions ranging from the whimsical to the nightmarish float in and out of consciousness.
