Nantucket Lightship / FBHI Fundraising Tour
Come tour the largest and newest lightship ever built - the Nantucket Lightship LV-112, and help to raise funds for both the Lightship and the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands. The Lightship has an incredible history and will be a treat for many to be able to board and take a tour. This tour is a collaborative effort between the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands and the Nantucket Lightship.

Join us on this special day for a tour. You should be aware the lightship is on a dock that requires walking on an un-even surface that is moving (floating dock), walking up a ramp to the ship, and then up and down steep stairs and ladder-like stairs as we leave the main deck and will descend below decks. The Nantucket is not handicapped accessible. Parking is available at the East Boston Shipyard and a golf-cart should be available to assist in transport from the parking area to the dock. Beverages (non-alcoholic) will be provided by the Friends.
For 39 years, Nantucket Lightship / LV-112 guided transoceanic shipping to and from U.S. east coast ports, through some of the most treacherous shipping lanes in the world. She was the first symbol of America encountered by thousands of immigrants. Many famous vessels such as the SS United States, the Queen Mary, Normandie and naval cargo vessels depended on her as a navigational aid. For 35 years the FBHI has provided advocacy and volunteer support to the Boston Harbor Islands.
The Friends and Nantucket are both participating with other partners on the 350th Anniversary of Boston Light in 2016.

**there are no refunds for this event, if extreme weather or other unusual occurrence happens, the event will be rescheduled.
