Goat Cheese Workshop with the San Francisco Milk Maid
Embrace summer's bounty by topping your salads (and other veggie treats) with your very own freshly made goat cheese. Join Pollinate and The San Francisco Milk Maid for a crash course in home cheesemaking on Sunday, June 14, 11am - 1pm at the Dimond Recreation Center.
We will begin by sampling a variety of goat cheeses and discuss possible pairings and plate accompaniments. In class, you'll learn how to make simple and delicious chèvre as well as healthy, probiotic goat yogurt. We'll cover essential supplies, how to tinker with the recipes to make them unique (such as wrapping the chèvre in grape or fig leaves), shelf life, serving ideas and more. Each participant will take home one 8 oz. draining cup filled with fresh goat cheese curds (which will be chèvre one day later!). When you make the goat cheese yourself, your summer salad will reach new heights!

BONUS! Class attendees will enjoy a 10% discount on Louella's new book, Kitchen Creamery, and on all cheesemaking tools and supplies at Pollinate on the day of class. We carry all you need to perfect your home cheesemaking skills!
Instructor Bio: Louella Hill's passion for cheesemaking started on a sheep farm in Tuscany where she spent each day milking sheep, haying fields and making Pecorino. Since then, she has apprenticed with small-scale cheesemakers in Europe, Mexico and throughout New England. She is the co-founder of Rhode Island's Narragansett Creamery and known locally as The San Francisco Milk Maid. Her favorite part of cheesemaking is the soft, sweet smell of a milk vat. She is the author of Kitchen Creamery (Chronicle Books), available at Pollinate Farm & Garden.
