Ramzi Aburedwan, Dal'Ouna, Lena Seikaly: CHILDREN OF THE STONE CONCERT with special guest Sandy Tolan
A portion of proceeds from the tour -- ticket sales and donations -- will support Al Kamandjati, the network of music schools in Palestinian refugee camps, founded by Ramzi Aburedwan whose remarkable life is chronicled in Sandy Tolan's recently published and widely acclaimed book, "Children of the Stone."
"it is refreshing to have this non-fiction account that reflects one individual's belief in the power of music and culture to transform lives." ~ YO-YO MA
Featured in concert will be the powerful music of Ramzi Aburedwan and his Arabic-French Dal'Ouna Ensemble: a dynamic fusion of Palestinian folk, classical, jazz and world music. Ensemble members include renowned composer, violist and bouzouk player Ramzi Aburedwan and percussionist Tareq Rantisi from Palestine, oud player Ziad Ben Youssef from Tunisia, Edwin Buger from Yugoslavia on accordion, and special guest vocalist Lena Seikaly from the U.S. Sandy Tolan will read excerpts from his book, "Children of the Stone: The Power of Music in a Hard Land."
The July 2015 tour is designed to build bridges across religions, ethnicities, borders and cultures. The tour will introduce American audiences to the work of the Al Kamandjati music schools, Your contribution will support children by offering them music as a path to hope, peace and transformation.
