Tour de Cluck: A Bicycle Chicken Coop Crawl!
Tour de Cluck is sold out! NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
Back by popular demand, the 2011 Tour De Cluck: A Bicycle Chicken Coop Crawl offers the chicken lovers and chicken curious among us the opportunity to visit a variety of our Davis, CA community's chicken coops by bicycle. Your participation benefits Davis Farm to School's work to support local food in a healthy school environment.
The coops featured will be presented as a self-guided tour in neighborhood clusters (coop loops!) with most having easy access to Davis's extensive network of bike paths and bike lanes. Note: The Tour de Cluck will take place RAIN or SHINE!
In addition to the egg-cellent Chicken Coop Crawl, The Tour de Cluck will once again celebrate our best local food purveyors at the tasty Fowl Food Fair at the renowned Davis Farmers Market.
Also returning, the eggs-tremely popular Tour de Cluck Art Exhibit & Silent Auction in the white tent on the Central Park Green! In this paean to poultry you will find the chicken-themed art and other unique items of your dreams.
Our Chicken Skool will feature a variety of presentations in preparation for the Tour de Cluck, from an Avid Reader book talk to MAK Design + Build's coop design and construction demo and Derek Downey's aligned Composting Class offered at the Whole Earth Festival. Throughout tour day, the Davis Food Co-op will feature egg-cellent Cook to Cluck lessons in their gorgeous teaching kitchen, Modesto Milling will provide Grit, Scratch and Feed tips at The Atomic Ranch coop and Anna Leslie, along with savvy 4-H'ers, will present expert information at a Central Davis location indicated on the event Map Guide Ticket!
And of course, it's never too early to begin practicing your cluck, bawk and cockle-doodle-do for the not-to-be-missed Community Kick-off Clucking Exhibition held on the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame "back porch". We suggest you begin to form your flock now!
