Howard Fishman Quartet
Howard Fishman's trilogy of new CDs have received raves from the likes of The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NPR. The new recordings join Fishman's already-extensive catalogue of albums (he now has nine in all) that traverse a wide swath of musical territory, from New Orleans street brass to early blues and folk to pop standards to gospel and free jazz.
Often compared to Lou Reed, Hoagy Carmichael, and Jonathan Richman, Fishman's "endearingly charismatic" (The New York Times) performances combine a storyteller's sense of intimacy with the spontaneity of jazz and the vitality of punk to create "something entirely new" (Downbeat). He made his debut at the Algonquin Oak Room in 1999, and has since headlined in major venues both here and abroad, including the the Lincoln Center American Songbook series, Joe's Pub, The Steppenwolf Theatre, The Pasadena Playhouse, and Le Petit Journal in Paris. Howard Fishman maintains a full-time touring schedule and has garnered a devoted following worldwide.
