Guitarist Ray Obiedo's funky, percussive playing is rooted in blues, jazz, Latin and pop. A versatile musician, Obiedo is praised for moving between smooth jazz, straight ahead styles, R&B, and Latin jazz with equal finesse. His impressive list of performance and recording credits includes jazz organist Johnny "Hammond" Smith and Herbie Hancock along with chart-topping recordings for Windham Hill.
Guitarist Ray Obiedo has been at the forefront of Latin jazz for three decades. With a long list of albums out that seem to always make the Billboard charts, Obiedo's funky percussive guitar playing is rooted in blues, jazz, Latin and pop. As a sideman Obiedo has performed with many of the jazz community's most celebrated stars including legendary jazz organist Johnny "Hammond" Smith, trombonist Julian Priester, Azteca, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E., Fourplays' Harvey Mason and jazz superstar Herbie Hancock.
