SEASON OPENER: Mahler's 5th Symphony
The 2015 MSMF Symphony Orchestra, a 95-piece orchestra comprised of top young talents from the world's elite music institutions including Juilliard, the Royal College of Music, the Cleveland Institute, and others, takes on Mahler's breathtakingly powerful Symphony No. 5. A spectacularly challenging work with musical themes exploring the tomes of light and dark, Karajan has called this masterpiece a "transforming experience."
Conducted by the festival's artistic and executive director Michael Rossi, the orchestra is joined by outstanding vocalists from the Opera Institute.
