The Scarlet 'S' Project uses theater to address the prevalence of sexual violence in our society, and to eliminate notions that this violence is an acceptable or "normal" part of sex, youth culture, or our lives. The story is familiar: it's an epidemic spread across college campuses, news outlets, and Facebook feeds. What now?
I AM THE RAT is an original, devised play about sexual violence and systems of silence, shame, and support.
With movement, verbatim docu-style dialogue, and mashups of media and messages, imagination and nightmares, I AM THE RAT tracks the journeys of familiar characters and communities as they grapple with the expectations of gender, sexuality, trauma, and systems meant to support.
