Comedy Returns to El Rio! (Mon, Feb 14- A Queer Valentine's Day Show)
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Every 2nd Monday of the month @ 8pm at El Rio. The next show is Monday, Feb 14th - A Queer Valentine's Day Show. Come alone, with your honey, whateva!
Featuring LGBT comedians: David Hawkins, Janine Brito, Bob McIntyre, Loren Kraut, and guest MC, Nick Leonard.
DAVID HAWKINS' manic style mixes pop culture fanaticism with punk rock cynicism into a style both nerdy and naughty. He has performed at the Yerba Buena Center, the National Queer Arts Festival, and co-hosted the SF LGBT Center's 7th Anniversary.
JANINE BRITO started doing stand up in St. Louis and has performed at clubs and theaters throughout the US and Hong Kong. Now a rising star on the San Francisco comedy scene, she is a regular at the Punchline, winner of the 2009 SF Women's Comedy Competition, and recipient of Rooftop Comedy's 2010 Silver Nail Award. According to fellow comedian, W. Kamau Bell "Janine Brito is a sarcastic, snarky, smart bomb of comedy funk straight from the 80's. She is relentlessly intelligent, cute, and above all screamingly funny."
BOB MCINTYRE was born a coal miner's daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Hollow. At the age of 13, he got his first job as a waiter at the local BINGO hall where he learned the skills that would carry him through an additional 25 years of various restaurant jobs in a variety of establishments that would never be referred to as "fine dining." Along the way he performed some comedy here and there but not in a lot of other places. Bob's returned to comedy last year after a 5-year hiatus. His cat weighs 19 pounds, 1/5 of Bob's own weight.
LOREN KRAUT was a finalist in the Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition in 2007 and 2009. Her style is laid-back and somewhat dark, covering such subjects as her obsessive-compulsive disorder and anorexia or writing the perfect suicide note. She can be seen throughout the Bay Area touching or counting anything that needs touching or counting most recently at The Purple Onion, The Clubhouse, Rooster T. Feathers, Harvey's Funny Tuesdays, The Wharf Room, and at a coffee shop near you.
NICK LEONARD started performing stand up at the beloved Josie's Cabaret in The Castro and has appeared all over the U.S. His comedy graced the prestigious 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. That same year, he was also voted one of San Francisco's top 10 comics by Karma.com. The former Cosmonaut and International Bon Vivant is the producer of the monthly gay comedy showcase, QComedy at Martuni's.
