Martina Griffiths, Great Canadian Songbook - Volume 1
I am a true red and white Canadian.
Last year this Maple Leaf found herself living smack dab in the middle of Manhattan, New York for a year. I spent my time studying music, voice and performance. As a Canadian living in New York City surrounded by music from every decade, genre, and corner of the globe - I was filled with a sweet nostalgia and appreciation for all things Canadian. At that moment a light bulb of inspiration turned to create the 'Great Canadian Songbook Volume 1' show.
Canada has produced some of the greatest songwriters in the world and I am thrilled to be able to sing and perform a selection of their songs.
For the 'Great Canadian Songbook Volume 1' show I have chosen some of my all time favourite Canadian Songs. Ranging from Neil Young's 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart, to Mitsou's 'Bye Bye Mon Cowboy, to Justin Bieber's 'Baby', to Ian Tyson's 'Four Strong Winds', and many more.
The songs are delivered in my signature 'Fun Fused Jazz' style, or as some people like to call it; Fuzz.
It was very difficult to keep the list to a show's length worth of material and I can't wait to put the list together for, Volume 2, Volume 3, Volume 4,.
