Larry Q Draughn, "Sound of a Movement"
Larry Q Draughn (Drums), William Darity (Guitar) and Kenny Phelps-Mckeown (Upright Bass).
The "Sound of a Movement" set honors NC musical icons and their works written during the Civil Rights Era. Artists included are Shirley Caesar, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack, Max Roach, John Coltrane and Danny Richmond. If you caught any of our showings in February, you know that we had the audio and visual component to assist the music. This included thought provoking social commentary from Dr. Martin Luther King, Richard Pryor and Tupac Shakur to name a few. That ain't changed!!! If fact, we've upgraded things. In talking about the past, both right and wrong with true brotherly Love in mind, it will empower us to change our present and prepare for the future. Since February, I've been transitioning into a greater understanding of true brotherly Love for all humanity, which helps me tie all of this dense information together to present to you. It'd be amazing if you could join us on May 29!!!
