Breaking Barriers celebrates the achievements of individuals and organizations engaged in the struggle for the legal rights of people with disabilities, while recognizing the work that lies ahead. This year, we will honor the Americans with Disabilities Act's 25th anniversary by screening the outstanding Independent Lens documentary "Lives Worth Living" chronicling key events that culminated in the passage of the ADA.
A prominent leader of the disability rights movement who is featured in the documentary, Judith Heumann, U.S. State Department Special Advisor for International Disability Rights, will accept MDLC's Lorraine Sheehan Lifetime Achievement Award; Congressman Steny Hoyer will accept the Public Policy Award; Sidley Austin LLC will receive the Legal Advocacy Award & we will dedicate the Grassroots Advocacy Award to Gayle Hafner and present it to Thomas Hicks of Helping Other People through Empowerment.
As always, Breaking Barriers will also feature great food, drink, music, a raffle and the best networking around! Dressy casual, business or festive attire. SEE YOU THERE!
